Parks Victoria continues to ensure safety of parks across the State
July 18, 2023

Parks Victoria continues to ensure parks across the state are available for communities to safely explore and connect with nature. The Asset Regeneration Program will remove, repair or replace more than 100 pieces of infrastructure across our parks.

The $24.76 million Victorian Government investment will deliver important repair and replacement works to boardwalks, bridges, lookouts, shelters and playgrounds within parks, removing assets that have reached the end of their operational life.

The Asset Regeneration Program will support healthy and liveable communities, and visitation across some of state's iconic landscapes.

Visitors to the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park will benefit from the replacement of the Grand Canyon Staircase so walkers can continue to explore the stunning rocky gorge and cultural landscape. Meanwhile, in Melbourne's south-east, the playground at Cardinia Reservoir Park will be repaired for local families and visitors to enjoy. The East Jetty Viewing Platform at Wilsons Promontory National Park is also being investigated for works along with Centenary Park Picnic Shelter at Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park.

These are just some of more than 100 asset renewal works Parks Victoria is delivering through 2023, 2024 and 2025, with works extending across the state.

This program expands on the significant maintenance work already undertaken at Parks Victoria, with the organisation responsible for continuously managing and maintaining over 50,000 pieces of infrastructure annually.
