New campaign promotes Northern Territory as a destination for different and extraordinary events

New campaign promotes Northern Territory as a destination for different and extraordinary events
January 19, 2023

The Northern Territory government in support of the territory’s tourism industry, has launched a new national campaign – ‘Events that bring the different’ - promoting the NT as a destination for unique and extraordinary events.

‘Events that bring the different’ is designed to inspire Australians to visit, experience and participate in Territory events, boosting visitor numbers and building a stronger tourism industry.

The campaign will use seven uniquely Territorian events as a hook to further promote the entire NT events calendar to interstate audiences.

The seven events being highlighted include:

  • fabALICE, a drag and cabaret festival in Alice Springs from 9th – 12th March 2023.
  • Parrtjima: A Festival in Light, a free 10-night festival in Alice Springs from 7th – 16th April 2023.
  • BASSINTHEGRASS, the Territory’s biggest beachside music festival in Darwin on 20th May 2023.
  • Darwin Festival, Australia’s hottest winter arts festival from 10th – 27th August 2023.
  • Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, one of Australia’s most significant and internationally recognised arts event, from 11th – 13th August 2023.
  • Red CentreNATS, the ultimate festival of wheels in the Red Centre from 1st – 3rd September 2023.
  • Desert Song Festival, a 10 day festival in Alice Springs from 8th – 17th September 2023.

Designed to drive interstate visitors to the Territory and encourage them to stay and explore more of the Territory’s regions, the campaign includes planning tools and travel packages and is in market nation-wide until 30th June 2023.

NT Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Nicole Manison notes “Australia’s most unique and unforgettable festivals and events are right here in the Northern Territory, whether it’s experiencing our authentic Aboriginal art and culture, or attending our music and film festivals, the NT has so much to offer our visitors.

“This campaign is designed to highlight the breadth of unique events the Territory has to offer and motivate Australians to book a trip to the Territory to experience our distinctive, world class offerings.

“A calendar of iconic events creates a thriving tourism industry, boosting our economy and local jobs.”

Event organisers in the NT are encouraged to list and update their events on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) to ensure they are included on Tourism NT’s events portal northernterritory.com/events.
