read moreHard on the heels of the outstanding success in the pool at the Commonwealth Games, more than 600 swim school owners, coaches and teachers will converge at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) from 3rd to 6th May 2018 for the annual Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA) national convention.
For the first time in over 20 years, 2018 sees the ASCTA Convention move from the Gold Coast to Brisbane. Explaining this, and acknowledging the BCEC as an international award winning venue, which will host a vastly different convention from previous years, ASCTA Chief Executive Brendon Ward states “the new four-day program will bring our whole community together in one place at one time. We are kicking off with AFL legend Bec Goddard addressing all delegates on building successful teams, and I’m extremely confident all of our plenary sessions will have universal appeal to inspire and inform coaches, teachers and swim school owners alike.
"For the first time we will have an extensive marketplace of exhibitors where delegates can mix and mingle with peers, check out the latest and greatest products services and innovations".
The ASCTA and Swim Australia awards dinners have been consolidated into one night of celebration and extravagance. The best coaches in Australia will be honoured across a range of categories and we will also celebrate swim schools and teachers who are so critical to developing water safety skills in our community and ensuring the future of our sport.
Ward added "I'm really looking forward to hearing from US coach Sergio Lopez, former coach of the fastest swimmer in the world right now, Caeleb Dressel. We've also got two superstars in the learn to swim world with Matthew Lane and Julie-Ann James both presenting.”
One of the most significant aspects of any conference for delegates is the opportunity to network, with more than 600 attendees there will be ample opportunity to connect with old friends, meet new acquaintances, share ideas and have a great time.
