Mandurah and Rockingham councils remind residents that proof of vaccination now required to enter aquatic centres and other city facilities

Mandurah and Rockingham councils remind residents that proof of vaccination now required to enter aquatic centres and other city facilities
January 28, 2022

The cities of Mandurah and Rockingham have issued a reminder to residents and guests that from Monday 31st January they will need to show their proof of vaccination to enter facilities including the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre and the Aqua Jetty.

In Mandurah, anyone aged 16 and over will need to be fully vaccinated to enter not only the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) but also the Halls Head Recreation Centre and the Mandurah Seniors Centre, regardless of whether they are spectating, accompanying or directly using the facilities.

Those entering the facilities will need to present their proof of vaccination in an approved format along with valid ID or a valid exemption.

Staff are also required to be vaccinated.

A City of Mandurah spokesperson confirmed the formal proof of vaccination directions came from the Western Australian Government, asking patrons to "continue to treat staff and each other respectfully at all times when they check vaccination status".

In Rockingham, proof of vaccination will be required at the Aqua Jetty and the Autumn Centre.

The Autumn Centre will require visitors to show proof of vaccination from 7am to 4pm on weekdays while, for events held outside the Centre’s business hours, specific event organisers will be required to ensure patrons are compliant.

People who are unvaccinated will still be able to access the Rockingham Aquatic Centre, as visitors to this outdoor facility are exempt as are community sports held at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex.

City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin thanked the community for their patience and understanding, advising “the City is in the process of implementing the Directions issued by the State Government regarding entry requirements at certain venues. We ask for the public’s cooperation with staff as they deal with these new requirements.

“These Directions will impact some areas of the City’s operations and services, and our staff will be working to ensure the changes are implemented as smoothly as possible.”

Mask wearing directions will also continue to apply in all indoor areas.

When visiting City of Mandurah and City of Rockingham facilities impacted by the Western Australian Government’s new rules, community members will be required to show proof of vaccination in either a digital or paper-based form, along with identification if they are not using the ServiceWA App.

Where applicable, valid medical exemptions will need to be provided to gain entry.
