Local sports clubs to benefit from over $220,000 in grants

Local sports clubs to benefit from over $220,000 in grants
June 18, 2018

A new partnership between Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) and Australia Post has awarded over $220,000 in Giving4Grassroots™ (G4G™) grants to 30 not-for-profit sports organisations to promote diversity and inclusion in sport.

The G4G™ Sport4Everyone program is the ASF’s national grants program which awards grants between $2,000 and $10,000 to selected clubs or organisations to increase long term sport participation among all genders, cultures, abilities and ages.

With over 900 G4G™ grant applications received, ASF Chief Executive Patrick Walker said the G4G™ project was a great example of how grassroots sport can make a significant community impact and effect real social change.

Walker advised “the G4G™ grants will enable more local clubs and organisations across Australia to offer programs which bring increased participation, new opportunities and provide positive experiences, regardless of an individual’s background or ability.

“These local sporting groups are celebrating difference whilst recognising our fundamental similarities, such as the desire to be happy, healthy, respected and valued. The number and caliber of grant applications this year shows us there is real movement towards social inclusion within our communities.”

ASF was established by the Australian Government to support the development of sport and is the only organisation in Australia able to provide a tax deduction for donations to sport.

The Sports Foundation is listed in the Income Tax Assessment Act as a Deductible Gift Recipient and donations of $2 or more to Sports Foundation projects are tax deductible.

G4G™ relies on donations from the community to fund its projects. Donations can be made to can be made at www.sportsfoundation.com.au
