The Leisure Institute of Western Australia (LIWA) Aquatics has announced that Nick Wilkinson has been re-elected as its President with Melissa Warren taking on the role of the as the not-for-profit organisation’s Vice President.

In a statement, LIWA Aquatics advised “we want to thank Sarahjayne Westberg who had stood down from the VP role (at the recent AGM) for her service and commitment to the LIWA Aquatics Board and aquatics industry.

“SJ will remain on the board to assist with the transition of the New Vice President.”

LIWA Aquatics also has three regional representatives on the board - Melissa Warren, Alex Baxter and Billy Vibart - about whom it notes “having these representatives on the board allows LIWA to have a spokesperson representing all areas of WA Regions from the North West, Wheabelt, Goldfields, Southern regions and everywhere in between.

“We encourage all members to speak with your LIWA Rep to discuss important issues in your regions.”

LIWA Aquatics thanked all of its Board members for stepping up to work toward a better industry, adding “your commitment and passion are highly valuable and appreciated.

“We look forward to working with the industry over the coming year, we hope that you all have a safe summer and remember to always ‘Watch Around Water’."

New Life Members
LIWA Aquatics has also announced two newly appointed Life Members: John ‘Simmo’ Simmonds and Dale Morrissy, whom it describes as “two very deserving and long-serving members of LIWA Aquatics.

John Simmonds has been instrumental in assisting and mentoring the next generation of pool managers in the regions and to always be on hand to help out or provide advice to others in the industry.

Dale Morrissy has been involved in the industry for over 30 years starting out as a young lifeguard and working his way to the top to manage the Beatty Park Leisure Centre.

LIWA Aquatics went on to state "his involvement with LIWA being a board member and Treasurer for many years and also a key player in the development and implementation of Watch Around Water 20 years ago has now been recognised by LIWA and members by awarding Dale and 'Simmo' Life Membership."
