Released yesterday, the report shows that 83% of respondents already run multiple events a year and 60% plan to run more in 2020 - while only 3% indicated that they would run fewer events.
By comparison, in 2019, 46% said they planned to run more events, showing a strong rise in the market for 2020.
In 2019, almost half of all respondents reported that insufficient budget was a key challenge for their events. In 2020, this has dropped to 35% and one-third of respondents expect their budget to increase.
Based on responses from more than 1,000 Australian event professionals, the Report found:
• Close to three-quarters (72%) of Australian event professionals are making sustainability a focus at their events in 2020, compared to just 11% of respondents in 2019,
• 58% of respondents will focus on diversity in 2020, with gender-balanced line-ups, more accessible venues and promoting events to a more diverse audience among the initiatives event professionals are considering this year,
• Interactive and immersive experiences will be 2020's hottest event trend
Internationally, Evenbrite’s poll of 6,843 global event creators shows that there are more events in the pipeline than ever before.
The Report also shows that Australian event professionals are optimistic about the future of the events industry in general, with:
• 83% to run multiple events a year
• 60% planning to run more events in 2020
• 64% satisfied with their job in events
• 20% believing reaching new attendees will be easier
