EEAA Young Stars focus on the future of event marketing

EEAA Young Stars focus on the future of event marketing
October 10, 2019

The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Young Stars, a specialist group that engages under 35-year-olds working in the exhibitions and events industry, held a Meet-up in Melbourne last week to focus on emerging marketing trends for the exhibitions and business events sector.

The EEAA Young Stars program focuses on peer-to-peer learning and leveraging the expertise of the Young Stars to contribute to industry-wide discussions.

The EEAA Young Star committee drives the program of events. The current Chair of the Committee is Kay Badakhsh, Business Development Manager, HostCo Sydney and the Deputy Chair is Roslyn Du Plooy, Account Manager - Associations & Exhibitions, Melbourne.

EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio said more than 50 people gathered at the Eventbrite headquarters in Melbourne to discuss all things marketing.

A panel discussion was led by Chris Schlueter, EEAA Board Member and Product Manager from Sprintr by AV1 with industry experts Timothy Collett, Managing Director Specialised Events; Megan Coningsby, Strategic Marketing Manager Eventbrite APAC; Dean Prenc, General Manager, Madman Anime Group; and Laura White, Marketing Manager Events & Exhibitions Australia.

The panel shared case studies on successful marketing strategies for both trade and consumer events, with an overall theme emerging on the importance of knowing your audience and being ‘customer centric’ and always ensuring the customer comes first.

Josh McNicol, General Manager and Head of Marketing for Eventbrite APAC presented Eventbrite’s annual Pulse Report. This was a great way to set the scene for the panel discussion which followed.

The report deep-dived into the most effective event marketing channels for 2019. More information on Eventbrite’s annual Pulse Report can be accessed here.
