EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio said the Association was committed to providing new opportunities for young people working in events to be able to attend the Association’s key events, stating "our goal is to bring talented young professionals, who will lead the future of the industry, into mainstream discussions and knowledge-sharing both on and off stage.
"We have created a focus session at our EEAA Leaders Forum at which a panel of young leaders will discuss the future of the industry – we are committed to giving emerging young leaders of the industry a voice and our Leaders Forum and Conference are ideal opportunities.”
The special incentive rate was announced to attendees at the new EEAA Young Stars Meetup Series, launched at the new offices of Informa Australia. The sell-out event attracted around 60 people from the events industry including venues, organisers and a diverse range of suppliers to the events industry.
The new Meetup event was produced by the EEAA Young Stars Committee and was designed to create new styles of learning and networking opportunities.
Winner of the inaugural Tourism Australia Scholarship, Georgie Chapman Burgess gave a talk about her experience of attending the Global Association for the Exhibition Industry’s (UFI) Asia-Pacific Conference in Tokyo in March.
DiMascio added “the more opportunities we create for emerging leaders – the stronger their voices can be. Our industry can only benefit from hearing from our most talented young professionals - and I’m very pleased our Association is in a position to create so many opportunities.".
Under 30s who take advantage of this special discount rate will hear from two of the most influential industry figures on the international business events circuit - Margaret Ma Connolly, Chief Executive of Informa Asia and Stephanie Selesnick, President of International Trade Information, who are both giving keynotes and hosting clinics at the 2019 Leaders Forum and Conference in Melbourne on 5th and 6th June.
DiMascio continued “Ms Connolly and Ms Selesnick will both be addressing their commitment to talent development and we would like to ensure our young members have access to interact with these powerful industry figures. We are hope the 25% discount will reduce the price barrier to participation and encourage their employers to invest in ensuring worthy employees can attend.."
The EEAA 2019 Leaders Forum and Conference includes an outstanding line-up of presenters from within and outside the industry. Addressing this year’s key themes, sustainability, careers and talent acquisition and retention, the program will combine a mix of presentations, panel discussions and deep-dive clinics addressing practical and important learning opportunities for attendees.
Speakers confirmed to join the EEAA across the two days include:
• Margaret Ma Connolly, International Organiser, Chief Executive of Informa Global Exhibitions Asia
• Stephanie Selesnick, Las Vegas based international tradeshow professional, blogger and trainer
• Allan Briggs, Managing Director, Crisis Shield
• Jenny Lambert, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Paul Bloxham, Chief Economist (Australia, New Zealand and Global Commodities) and Managing Director, HSBC
• Christian Von Christian, Group Executive Product & Technology, Telstra
• John O’Sullivan, Managing Director, Tourism Australia
The EEAA Leaders Forum and Conference will coincide with Global Exhibitions Day (#GED19), the worldwide campaign that promotes the importance of the exhibition and events industry. The program will be held over two days (5th and 6th June 2019) in Melbourne and consists of five major events:
