City of Melbourne awards Carlton Baths heat pump install contract to 3E Group

City of Melbourne awards Carlton Baths heat pump install contract to 3E Group
February 20, 2023

The City of Melbourne has awarded 3E Group a contract to remove gas-fired heating equipment at Carlton Baths and to replace it with an electric heat pump.

Part of the City of Melbourne’s Reduction Plan for Council Operations 2021-26, which aims to transition Council operations from fossil fuels by 2030, the project includes the supply and installation of equipment used to supply hot water, heating and cooling throughout the popular aquatic and recreation facility.

Based on the company’s strong aquatic centre and heat pump experience, 3E Group (formerly Ecosave Australia & NZ) submitted a response to the tender issued by the City of Melbourne for the Detailed Design of Carlton Baths Gas Free Operations.

3E Group’s execution methodology was valued by City of Melbourne and was a key factor in being selected as the successful tenderer.

The scope of work includes:

  • Confirming the heat pump models and sizing.
  • Upgrading the power supply to the site.
  • Addressing structural requirements associated with the heat pump location.
  • Redesigning the building management system for the new heating profile.
  • Considering heritage and acoustic requirements given the close proximity of residential housing.
  • Detailing all aspects of the design via engineering drawings, schematics and specifications to a level suitable for issuing an installation tender.

Having attracted significant investment in mid 2022, 3E Group has recently completed a rebrand from its former title of Ecosave Australia & NZ.

The investment is enabling the company to strengthen its position as a leading net zero solutions company in assisting organisations achieve their sustainability objectives, as the company scales for growth and capitalises on immediate and long-term market opportunities.

The change of company name and rebranding to 3E Group is a strategic move by the leadership team as they initiate long-held plans to scale for growth following strong support from investors.

3E Group Managing Director, Robin Archibald advised “the meaning behind 3E Group is based on three pillars of our core expertise around energy, emissions and efficiency and how we integrate various solutions to maximise energy efficiency and reduce emissions in pursuit of achieving our clients’ sustainability targets.”
