Casey Sports House welcomes local sports development staff and administrators

Casey Sports House welcomes local sports development staff and administrators
August 31, 2015

A number of state and local sporting associations now have a new home in the City of Casey following the official opening of the Casey Sports House on Monday 24th August 2015.

Located within an expanded VFL pavilion at Casey Fields, the Casey Sports House accommodates sports development staff and administrators from a range of state and local sporting organisations with the vision to drive local and regional participation.

The newly-formed AFL South East Commission, AFL Victoria, Cricket Victoria, Tennis Victoria and Netball Victoria all have a presence at the Casey Sports House, with more sports set to join in the future.

City of Casey Mayor Mick Morland said the facility provides a wonderful opportunity for individual sports to work closely with Council and other sports, together under the one roof, stating "the Casey Sports House was developed to accommodate state sporting associations so they could work within the community to encourage physical activity and increase participation in their respected codes.

"It’s very encouraging to see Council’s investment of $459,000 to the project has resulted in a number of sports taking up the offer of basing their development staff at the Casey Sports House, driving local participation in their sports.

"By investing in sport and recreational facilities and demonstrating that it is serious about sport, the City of Casey is also attracting many professional sporting clubs to the municipality.

"These clubs, among others, provide residents with the chance to experience professional sport without having to travel long distances, inspiring active living and promoting the City of Casey as the sporting capital of the south east.

"The Casey Sports House and our commitment to sporting facilities through the $460 million Leisure Facilities and Development Plan is an indication of the value Council places on active lifestyles and participation in sport."

AFL Victoria made a $100,000 contribution towards the project to enable them to establish their regional administration hub at the facility.
