The artificial intelligence powered camera of the Google Pixel will give fans unprecedented access and never before seen footage of the Australian Open. The partnership will unlock new in-play viewing angles, showcase tournament moments and allow fans to get closer to the players and the action, both on-court and behind the scenes, through a unique #PixelPerspective.
As from its opening tomorrow, the Australian Open 2024 social media team will be capturing all content through the lens of a Google Pixel 8 Pro, demonstrating the device's incredible camera quality and the latest AI-powered features. The team will use the latest device to help get fans even closer and experience more of the game they love.
Introducing the partnership, Tennis Australia Chief Commercial Officer, Cedric Cornelis stated “we are incredibly excited to welcome Google Pixel as an Australian Open partner.
“The amazing AI powered camera on the Pixel 8 pro will enable our social media team to capture world-class content for the Australian Open and give fans a new, up-close perspective of the sport played at its best.”
Prize money hits record high
Tennis Australia has also announced that prize money for the 2024 Australian Open will increase by $10 million to a record high of $ 86.5 million - a 13% increase on the 2023 tournament.
Australian Open Tournament Director, Craig Tiley commented “we’ve upped prize money for every round at the Australian Open with the major increases in qualifying and the early rounds of singles and doubles.
“It is critical to the continued success of the Australian Open that we ensure that the best players in the world are compensated appropriately as we know this allows players to invest in their own careers and in many cases, helps set them up for success throughout the year.”
Australian Open 2024, supported by major partner Kia in association with Emirates, Luzhou Laojiao and Rolex, will take place at Melbourne Park from 14-28 January 2024.
