Australian Innovative Systems major presence at 2015 Asia Pacific Summit & Mayor’s Forum

Australian Innovative Systems major presence at 2015 Asia Pacific Summit & Mayor’s Forum
July 8, 2015

Leading water disinfection company and chlorinator manufacturer, Australian Innovative Systems (AISystems) has been showcasing its award-winning, innovative technology to over 1,000 delegates at the Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) and Mayors’ Forum being held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 5th to 8th July.

AISystems Chief Executive Elena Gosse was a guest speaker at the Forum yesterday (7th July) while AISystems has also displaying its industry leading technology in the Forum’s ‘Market Square’ Expo.

In her address, Gosse spoke on the topic ‘Turning the tide in water disinfection’, sharing her experience of how innovative water disinfection technologies can contribute to building safer and more inclusive cities.

Gosse was joined by Len Brown, Mayor of Auckland and John Byrne, Principal, Byrne Urban Design and Adjunct Professor at QUT Brisbane who presented their own strategies regarding inclusive cities.

Commenting on her presentation, Gosse explained “it is one of the absolute highlights of my professional career to speak at this prestigious event, particularly on a topic that I am so passionate about.

“Water is our most precious resource (and) as our world becomes more populated, the growing demand for our cities’ leisure and recreational facilities, such as public pools, lagoons, aquatic centres, water parks and water features in the built environment will require advanced water disinfection solutions.

“We have access to that advanced technology right now and it is vital that we embrace it in order to ensure our cities remain clean and healthy for all in the face of rapid growth and urbanisation.”

The prestigious speaker line-up at the APCS has included Randi Zuckerberg, founder and Chief Executive of Zuckerberg Media (San Francisco); Olympian Lord Sebastian Coe, former Chair of 2012 London Olympics Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (London); and Sy Lau, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent, president of its Online Media Group (Beijing). Past APCS speakers including Cher Wang, Chair of HTC; Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York; and Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group.

Gosse added that an international summit of APCS’ calibre is the perfect opportunity to showcase AIS’ Australian -made technology, educate delegates about some of the myths about water disinfection, and discuss the extensive benefits that automatic, inline disinfection for fresh, mineral or salt water via the process of electrolysis provides.

She added “APCS will see more than 75 Mayors in attendance who are collectively responsible for governing 122 million citizens.

“That’s 122 million important reasons to discuss how, as the world’s population continues to increase and clean water becomes an even more precious resource, that we must be smarter about how we disinfect water and consider the impacts on humans and our environment.

“As community and business leaders we must work together to minimise the risk of Recreational Water Illnesses, decrease the incidents of chemical accidents in our workplaces and homes, and put a stop to the endless cycle of chlorine dosing.

AIS’ innovative technology is capable of producing chlorine within the water itself and from minerals and salts already present in the water. It can disinfect fresh, mineral or salt water - ideally water with a Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) level of from 1,200 parts per million.

Gosse stated “water disinfection technology such as AIS’ is more flexible and can be used in greater applications than ever before.

“Government agencies and private enterprise can adopt these world-class systems in the pools and aquatic facilities of our future, or retrofit them to existing facilities, knowing that they are keeping people safe from waterborne pathogens and disease and reducing the risks, cost and hassles associated with traditional chlorine dosing.”

AISystems has been the only water disinfection company to be exhibiting and presenting at APCS and that she now looks forward to further showcasing AIS’ Brisbane-made technology to the world.

She concluded “our products are already in use in facilities throughout Australia and have been exported to over 55 countries, but with APCS welcoming delegates from over 100 cities, each representing a population of more than 99 million people it’s a chance for us to shine.”

Now in its 10th year, APCS continues to attract an esteemed group of international thinkers and game-changers to discuss the challenges and opportunities for our cities in the fast-growing Asia Pacific region.
