ARI 2019 Conference looks at ‘Creating Value in Aquatic and Recreation Facilities’

The upcoming 2019 Aquatic and Recreation Institute (ARI) Conference and Trade Show is set to explore key issues in the future management of aquatic and recreation facilities, with the theme 'Creating Value in Aquatic and Recreation Facilities'.

Being held at the Peppers Craigieburn in the NSW Southern Highlands from 16th to 18th June, keynote presentations from three-time Paralympic Gold medallist and two time Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist, Kurt Fearnley; leading business coach, Jen Harwood and explorer James Castrission of the My Adventure Group will frame the conference, with each of these inspirational individuals sharing their experiences.

Key industry presentations at the Conference will include:

Bruce Mackay and Mike King of the Otium Planning Group
The future of who manages our Aquatic and Recreation Centres - exploring what options are available to Councils considering the operational management future of their leisure services.

Robyn Larkham, AUSTSWIM
Engage and Challenge - developing on-going training programs presents managers and coordinators with a solution to be able to train new teachers, engage employees and attract new employees. 

Dr Jeff Walkley, The Belgravia Foundation and Belgravia Leisure
Everybody’s Welcome - staff views about inclusion of underrepresented groups in leisure.

Tracey Prince, Recreation Aotearoa (formerly the New Zealand Recreation Association)

A 2020 fitness and leisure blueprint - How ActiveXchange's tracking over two million members will drive data based operational and investment decisions, based around the probability of outcomes and impacts. 

The conference will also see the final three teams of the ARI Mentor Team Challenge deliver their concluding pitch. 

Having been reinvigorated over recent years with a new dynamic board, rising membership and innovative industry programs, ARI’s 55th annual conference, is open to all operational and management staff of commercial and public pools as well as the commercial suppliers in the industry.
