Aquatic and Recreation Institute gives voice to young leaders

Aquatic and Recreation Institute gives voice to young leaders
November 16, 2018

The Aquatic and Recreation Institute has announced the formation of its Young Leaders Advisory Group to give voice to young people on the future direction of the Institute and the significant role it plays for the aquatics and recreation industry.

Looking to build on the success of the ARI Mentor Program, the Young Leaders Advisory Group is aiming to strengthen connections between the Institute and the future leaders of the industry.

The role of the Young Leaders Advisory is to provide an arena for consultation, communication and collaboration across the aquatic and recreation sectors to increase our support to the members we serve and contribute to a strong, vibrant aquatic and recreation sector into the future.

Introducing the Group, ARI President, Colin Kane explains “as an organisation, the ARI is focussed on the future. Its important that we are taking the time to listen to, and engage with, the concerns and ideas of our younger industry members and are working with them towards a vibrant future for the industry.”

The role of the Young Leaders Advisory Group will be to provide advice to the ARI Committee on issues they view to be of significance. As yet, the ARI Committee has not determined the themes or topics to be addressed by the Young Leaders Advisory Group. Rather, they prefer to be guided by members as to what the hot issues facing young people in aquatics and recreation industry are today.

Kane added “the ARI Mentor Program really showcased the incredible talent, insight and creativity younger members of the industry are bringing to the table. It seemed an obvious step to further engage with past participants and to provide opportunity for them to shape and guide the ARIs strategy into the future.”

Members of the Young Leaders Advisory must be under 35 years of age, be currently employed in aquatics or recreation and a current member of the ARI.

The ARI is currently seeking expressions of interest for foundation members of the Young Leaders Advisory Group that meet the above criteria.

Interested individuals are asked to submit a CV and letter of introduction outlining how they can contribute to a strong, vibrant aquatic and recreation sector by working with the ARI.
