YMCA and Precor bring the latest in exercise technology to Australia

YMCA and Precor bring the latest in exercise technology to Australia
December 13, 2017

YMCA managed health and fitness centres at Kew and Wodonga are set to launch revolutionary new fitness innovation aimed at providing the ultimate gym experience for members.

The move is in line with the industry trend towards time-efficient maximum impact training and the YMCA’s roll out of its Small Group Training program.

Achieved through the YMCA’s partnership with world leading fitness equipment provider Precor Australia, the innovative move will see both centres install and launch equipment new to Australian users for the first time in December.

The refurbished Health Club at Kew Recreation Centre will feature the Queenax™ Bridge functional training unit. The Queenax Bridge is a flexible system that creates unique group functional and suspended bodyweight training areas, while also preserving open space for floor based exercise classes. The innovation is the largest installation of a Queenax Functional Training system by Precor Australia.

Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre members will also benefit from the YMCA’s commitment to new technology with the rural Victorian centre becoming the first facility in the Southern Hemisphere to launch a suite of state-of-the-art Spinner® Chrono™ Power bikes.

YMCA Victoria Health and Fitness Manager Troy Walker said the organisation is committed to investing in new technology in exercise equipment with a customer focus.

Walker explained “at the YMCA we are deliberate in our focus on providing the best and most effective experience for the communities we work in.”

“In conjunction with our industry leading partners Precor, we continually consider our spaces with a view to designing the best solutions specific to each facility and community. We take into account a number of factors such as visitations, member segments, space activation and community outcomes.

“We are excited to launch this new equipment to the Australian market at two of our leading centres in Kew and Wodonga. We want our members and communities to enjoy their workouts and continued investment in new technology is a key to making that possible.”

The YMCA entered in to a preferred supplier agreement with Precor at the start of the year with Precor’s commitment to investment in product development a key to this move.

Precor Australia’s Sales Manager, Paul Kelly, said “Queenax is an incredibly diverse training platform with applications that appeal to youth, active aging members, athletes, and everyone in between. We’re excited to watch their programing evolve and contribute to their long-term success.”
