Wyndham City approaches completing upgrades on its sporting pavilions

Wyndham City approaches completing upgrades on its sporting pavilions
April 28, 2023

Wyndham City, located in the outer south-western suburbs of Melbourne, has almost completed its sporting pavilion upgrades program, with work completed on four more upgrades. Council had now completed 12 out of 14 planned sporting pavilion upgrades across Wyndham.

Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder, Councillor Peter Maynard advised “these pavilion upgrades are vital to our growing community, providing fit-for-purpose facilities for training and competition and helping our sporting clubs cater for higher demand.

“Wyndham City has invested $4.8 million into this program over 2022/23, and we’re pleased to see these upgrades being completed in line with our Sports Facility Capital Development Guide.”

A $1.16 million retrofit at Goddard Street Reserve Sports Pavilion in Tarneit is now complete, providing host clubs Wyndham Suns Football and Netball Club and Tarneit Centrals Cricket Club with an expanded social room, expanded kitchen and kiosk area, plus added storage.

Over at Point Cook, an $830,000 upgrade of the Saltwater Reserve Tennis Pavilion features a revamp of the existing pavilion and an extension that includes a larger social room and kitchen kiosk, added storage and new landscaping and paving.

Work is also complete on a $850,000 upgrade at Tom Roberts Reserve in Point Cook and an $800,000 retrofit at Arndell Park Reserve in Truganina.

Meanwhile, the finishing touches are being added to a soon-to-be completed $1.628 million retrofit of the Little River Reserve sporting pavilion and planning is underway on the final project in this program, an extension of the Galvin Park Football and Cricket Pavilion in Werribee.
