VenuesWest welcomes three new charities to its Community Partners Program

VenuesWest welcomes three new charities to its Community Partners Program
June 25, 2019

VenuesWest's successful Community Partners Program will, as of 1st July, welcome three new local charities for a two-year period.

Indigo Junction, Shooting Stars and Fair Game will join existing partner Mentally Healthy WA, which has a year left in its partnership.

Shooting Stars is an initiative of Glass Jar Australia and Netball WA, with the program using netball and other rewards to engage Aboriginal girls living in remote parts of the State.

The program aims to increase school attendance rates, while promoting purposeful and healthy lifestyles through local collaboration.

Fair Game provides recycled sports equipment to young people in remote communities - promoting health, education and fitness among local youth. It aims to build community capacity to encourage healthy lifestyle choices.

Indigo Junction provides crisis and transitional accommodation, emergency relief support, and financial capability services to young people, families and individuals experiencing disadvantage in the Midland area and surrounding community.

The charity aims to build self-reliance through education and create lasting change by promoting economic and social participation through early intervention and prevention programs.

VenuesWest farewelled previous partners Autism West, Starlight Children's Foundation and St Vincent de Paul Society WA, thanking them for their strong contribution during their partnerships.

Commenting on the new partnerships, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister, Mick Murray stated "it is so important for Venueswest to give back to the community. I'm proud to see VenuesWest are working directly with these groups to provide opportunities and experiences that would otherwise be out of reach for many members of the community.

"It is fitting that these new charities have a focus on linking grassroots sport with local groups and engaging with Aboriginal communities, especially following the recent launch of their Reconciliation Action Plan."
