UFC Gyms begin South East Asian expansion
With more than 135 fitness facilities in the USA, Australia, Canada, South America and the United Arab Emirates, UFC Gym has announced that it will be expanding in South East Asia.
Combining mixed martial arts (MMA) and fitness, the fast-growing franchise is to open new locations in Vietnam and the Philippines.
In partnership with CMG Asia, UFC Gym will open its first South East Asian facility in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on Sunday 20th October.
Located in the Udic Tower in Hanoi’s Cau Giay District Hanoi, the new club will offer a full-range of functional fitness classes, group and private MMA training, group fitness, personal and group dynamic performance-based training along with MMA youth programming.
Membership includes unlimited access to UFC’s world-famous Octagon® and signature classes such as Daily Ultimate Training® (DUT®), TRX®, Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, boxing, mixed martial arts conditioning, women’s self-defense, as well as popular group fitness classes.
Based in Ho Chi Minh City (formally Saigon), California Management Group (CMG Asia), is one of South East Asia’s most influential fitness, entertainment and lifestyle businesses.
Announcing the partnership, UFC Gym Chief Executive Brent Leffel stated “our partnership with CMG Asia marks another major milestone for our company as we introduce UFC GYM to Vietnam.
“The overwhelming response to our fitness concept and ‘Train Different’ philosophy has been incredible. With new state-of-the-art facilities, our goal is to create a community for all ages and fitness levels that is inviting, inclusive, encouraging and inspiring.”
CMG Chairman Randy Dobson added “UFC GYM is a perfect match to our exciting portfolio of international fitness and entertainment brands that we currently offer in Vietnam and South East Asia.”
UFC Gym has also agreed a 10-year partnership with Fitspiration Philippines, with the expectation of opening at 30 locations throughout the Philippines.
With the first gym is set to first open its doors in early 2017 in Glorietta in Makati City, Leffel explaining “we’re very excited to embark on this exclusive partnership to expand UFC GYM’s global footprint throughout the Philippines.
“Filipino fight fans understand our brand and partnering with Fitspiration PH is a perfect fit to help Manila’s fitness enthusiasts train different while working to achieve their individual fitness goals.”
Commenting on the overall expansion, UFC Executive Vice President and General Manager – Asia Kenneth Berger concluded “we are thrilled that UFC Gym is expanding into South East Asia.
“Asia is one of UFC’s fastest growing markets and we want to bring signature MMA styles of training and fitness to all fight fans in this region.
“Our fans and fitness consumers in South east Asia understand UFC’s brand and we can’t wait for them to train at our signature gyms.”
Globally, the fitness franchise has continued to grow at a rapid pace with more than 50 locations opening in the past two years and over 50 gyms expected to open in the next year.
It is also currently developing its second Australian facility at Weatherill Park in Western Sydney.
