Tullamore Pool upgrades will ensure swimming lessons and events continue

With Parkes Shire Council having secured $100,000 from the NSW Government through the Stronger Country Communities Fund, the Tullamore Pool will receive the upgrades required to benefit the small community of 500 residents.
The funding announced for the Tullamore Pool will see the refurbishment of the existing fibreglass shell and a new shell installed to provide a modern, easily-cleaned facility.
Mayor of Parkes Shire Ken Keith applauded the NSW Government for their investment and noted "Tullamore is a small town of just over 500 residents and the community pool is at the centre of this township's social gatherings throughout the hot summer months.
"This is a well-used facility that sees people of all ages from young families to elderly citizens. This upgrade will allow for the community to continue to enjoy our pool facilities for many years to come.”
The current structure has been maintained over the last 20 years with regular patching performed. Replacing the entire fibreglass shell will see reduced maintenance for repairs and ensure the longevity of the facilities into the future.
Parkes Shire Councillor Daniel Weber added "the Tullamore pool is used by the Aqua group, Tullamore Central School and the Tullamore Swimming Club, who's relay team have made it to State for the last three years.
"Despite Tullamore being quite far from any beaches, swimming is a vital life skill to learn. We are pleased to see the government supporting the upgrade of the pool to allow for these skills to continue to be put into practice and ensure the safety of our community around water.”
Works are expected to commence later this month and be completed by November this year.
