Tourism New Zealand looks to promote conference capability at AIME 2022
November 10, 2021

Tourism New Zealand will be looking to promote its new conference infrastructure at the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) when it returns from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd March 2022.

With Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre; Tākina, the Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre and the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in the heart of the Auckland CBD all due to open in the next 18 months, Tourism New Zealand General Manager - Domestic and Business Events, Bjoern Spreitzer commented “our industry revolves around meeting face to face, and New Zealand is very excited about returning to AIME and meeting in-person again.

“We’ll be turning up with a bigger contingent than last time to showcase what we have to offer the Australian and regional market.”

Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre
Replacing the now demolished Christchurch Convention Centre - New Zealand's first  purpose-built convention centre - irreparably damaged in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre will be a boutique, premium, international meetings and events venue in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island.

Able to host up to 2,000 people, the tiered 1400-delegate auditorium can be divided to host two events simultaneously, Te Pae Christchurch offers a range of meeting rooms including flexible spaces of varying sizes, across a total of 1,600 metre². The exhibition hall will easily accommodate 200 exhibition booths, and is divisible into three to suit a range of exhibition requirements.

Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre
Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre will be the New Zealand capital's first premium event space delivering two key elements to Wellington’s economic infrastructure.

The city’s largest built infrastructure investment since the Wellington Regional Stadium two decades ago, Tākina will offer a combination of facilities across three floors and 18,000 metre².

The top two floors will offer premium space to host meetings and conventions with over 10,000 metre² while the ground floor will include a 1,280 metre² Exhibition Gallery that will be the largest in the country.

New Zealand International Convention Centre
Approaching completion in the heart of Auckland, the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) is a premier convention and entertainment centre proposed to be Auckland’s landmark building.

Being developed by New Zealand’s biggest entertainment provider, Skycity, in agreement with the New Zealand Government, at an estimated cost of $471 million, NZICC will be able to cater for 2,850 delegates.

It is part of a wider development, which includes a 300-room hotel, 1,300 car parks, and an accompanying laneway.

Based in Melbourne, AIME is the leading trade event for the meetings and event industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
