STI expands to join forces with sister company Polytan

STI expands to join forces with sister company Polytan
June 2, 2014

Fast growing Australasian synthetic sports facility construction company Sports Technology International (STI) is relaunching as Polytan STI.

The recognition of STI's sister-company relationship with European synthetic sports surfacing market leader Polytan formalises the close collaboration between the two companies that has developed over the past six years.

Asia Pacific based STI and German company Polytan, have developed leading edge surfacing solutions for projects such as the elite football field upgrade at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and the 2014 Commonwealth Games hockey surfaces in Glasgow, UK.

The two highly successful organisations boast an impressive combined track record.

Poligras synthetic hockey fields have been used for three of the last four Olympic Games, and big name football clubs such Liverpool FC and FC Bayern Munich train and play on the company’s LigaTurf artificial football fields.

Their close working relationship is also recognised internationally, through joint ‘Preferred Producer’ branding as Polytan STI, in their close association with governing sports bodies including FIFA, IRB, FIH, ITF, World Bowls and AFL/Cricket Australia.

STI’s association with Polytan unifies two of the true pioneers of synthetic sport surface technology. Between them they have designed, manufactured and installed more than 50 million metres2 of sports surfaces, including some of the world’s most outstanding sports facilities across some of the harshest climates.

Polytan STI Asia Pacific Managing Director Stephen Niven explains “this change is an exciting outcome for our businesses.

“Through our work together, we are fully integrated and share many synergies.

“Like European leader Polytan, STI has kept end-to-end production in-house and invested considerably in R&D, manufacturing, installation and aftercare techniques to maintain its global edge.

“All raw materials are developed and tested in respective laboratories, and manufactured for market in their production facilities. This maintains quality control from start to finish. This single source approach to offer true full integration makes the Polytan STI relaunch and easy and natural fit.”

Polytan STI’s Australia-based Sales Manager Rob Kirkwood adds “every customer, from major synthetic sports field construction to a Council court upgrade will continue to experience the same complete service from our current team.

“All design, research, manufacture, installation and aftercare support will continue to be delivered by the same people here in Australasia, but with the additional global experience and benefits that the combined Polytan STI brand provides.

“Given the extra depth that the increased communication brings to our R&D and manufacturing capabilities, Polytan STI will be expanding its exclusive product range across Asia Pacific. Peak sporting bodies, local councils, sporting clubs and other customers in Australasia will have faster access to the latest technology. This includes synthetic turf, polyurethane coatings, acrylic coatings for sports court surfaces, and STI’s own range of compatible adhesives.”

Kirkwood believes that by joining forces, the Polytan STI business model will provide superior and significant benefits for local customers, through seamless operational procedures, outstanding product delivery while maintaining the core relationship with all their valued clients.

As a Gold Sponsor of the National Synthetic Surfaces Conference & Expo in Sydney on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th June, Polytan STI will be exhibiting on stand 60.
