Soak Bathhouse looks to expand from Queensland to Sydney and Melbourne in 2025
November 14, 2024

Contemporary bathhouse brand Soak has advised of its plans to expand from its current locations in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast with new locations in NSW and Victoria.

The family-owned business, which debuted at Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast in November 2020, plans to open its next Soak Bathhouse in the Sydney suburb of Alexandria in the autumn of 2025, before debuting further locations in Melbourne and Sydney’s Bondi Junction before the end of next year.

Co-founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife duo Alexis and Niki Dean, after their Gold Coast launch the pair then opened a rooftop day spa in Brisbane’s West End in 2022.

Tapping in on the surge in wellness and the need for social interaction the couple - and looking to move away from their corporate careers - they hit upon offering a communal bathhouse for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Explaining how they are looking to create a portfolio of urban oases to make wellness easy, accessible and affordable, Alexis Dean advises that the business is all about escaping “to a space where both mind and body can truly unwind”, noting “at a time when Australians are more stressed and burnt out than ever, we’re deeply committed to giving people the chance to step away from the pressures of daily life and enjoy a much-needed moment of pure relaxation.”

The brand's third location in Alexandria will a 700 square metre with magnesium-infused mineral bathing pools, cold plunges, saunas and steam rooms, outdoor showers, a spa garden, a cedarwood sauna, relaxation spaces and changing rooms.

Each Soak facility follows the blueprint of combining communal bathing facilities inspired by nature and designed to foster connection with a selection of private wellness treatments.

In its promotional material, Soak Bathhouse advises “our communal bathhouses are an urban oasis that blends city life with the restorative magic of the natural world to help our guests escape daily pressures, foster genuine in-person connection and leave feeling better, happier and lighter than when they arrived.

“Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, enjoy a moment of bliss as you move through Soak Bathhouse’s magnesium-rich warm mineral pools, hot spas, cold plunges, steam rooms and dry cedarwood saunas.

“Soak Bathhouse also offers rejuvenating and relaxing private experiences including massage, infrared sauna and LED facial, which can be added onto any Soak Session or booked separately."
