Skidata looks to expand provision of people access solutions across Australasia
SKIDATA’s recent staging of its inaugural Australian and New Zealand People Access Conference at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium marks the start of a new era in the company’s offering of access control and revenue managements in the Australasian market.

2018: Banc of California Stadium
In the past year the company has also teamed up with the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) to install the world’s most technologically-advanced access control entrance platforms in the brand-new Banc of California Stadium, located in the heart of Los Angeles.
SKIDATA’s efficient ticket verification system features the first-ever wireless turnstiles at its main gates and pedestals for premium entries.
Custom-designed for the 22,000-seat Banc of California Stadium, the innovative turnstiles are wireless and moveable, and can be operated in any location, at any time, using a rechargeable lithium battery and Wi-Fi connection.
The agnostic system launched for LAFC’s inaugural match on 29th April this year and provides a seamless and incredibly fast entry for fans and customers, quickly verifying tickets with 24 Flex Gate turnstiles, six premium Pedestals and more than 30 handheld scanners.

Previously installed with a hard-wired version of the turnstiles at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Skidata’s neutral platform can verify tickets through RFID and NFC, in addition to barcodes, helping LAFC move forward with its ‘mobile-first’ ticketing strategy and ensuring acceptance of all emerging and future technologies.
In Australia, SKIDATA partnered with Wilson Parking in 2004 to distribute itsparking products to the Australian market, with Wilson holding the Australian distribution rights until late 2016 when SKIDATA AG purchased the rights back from Wilson with a view to expanding services to the Australian market with their People Access products.
In October 2017, David Brown joined the SKIDATA team to launch the People Access business (Stadium and Mountain) in Australasia.
With a background in business development and management working with global organisations across varied industries, Brown has been learning about the needs of the venue management and attraction industries.

All service requirements will be conducted by SKIDATA employees who know the equipment intimately and have access to spare parts and customer support right here in Australia.
As a result, the company feels that it can provide potential customers and ticketing companies with an extremely viable alternative to existing access providers in Australia.
SKIDATA’s access system ‘Handshake.Logic’ controls its world record holding ‘Flex.gate’ - a platform allowing the management of a single ticketing partner or several ticketing partners easily. This flexibility opens up opportunity and insures a venue can accommodate whatever the future may hold.
SKIDATA Flexgates can accept all forms of ticketing bar code, RFID, E-ticket, NFC, QR code, Bio and Facial Recognition. It holds the world record for speed of access with 2033 passes in on hour.
Its access system is FIFA certified - the only access control system in Australia to carry this accreditation.
SKIDATA also markets the SWEB Loyalty product to support stadium, attraction and mountain customers.
