Should the leisure industry play a role in Australia’s vaccine rollout?
Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has advised that some of the nation’s largest businesses have offered to host COVID vaccine hubs in the future to aid the country’s vaccine rollout.
Senior executives of businesses including Coles, Commonwealth Bank, Telstra, Virgin, Qantas and others took part in a meeting with Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Australian Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly and health officials this morning.
The Treasurer said the companies brought a range of "exciting and interesting" ideas to the table, including helping with the logistics of the rollout and providing incentives to encourage vaccinations.
Given how indoor facilities in entertainment, fitness, recreation, swimming and sport have suffered massive negative impacts as a result of Coronavirus restrictions and lockdowns over the past 16 months, might it be the time for the leisure industry to step in to play a role in the vaccine rollout?
