SA Football Centre gets official opening

SA Football Centre gets official opening
July 25, 2022

The new South Australian State Centre of Football has officially opened, which the venue is now commercially known as ServiceFM Stadium following a naming-rights deal.

The $26 million football facility located in the northern Adelaide suburb of Gepps Cross commenced operations in mid-April this year and has already hosted more than 500 training sessions, 300 games and welcomed in excess of 26,000 spectators.

The venue features a main stadium with a 1,000-seat grandstand and 7,000 total capacity, a two-storey administration and function centre for Football SA, two full size synthetic floodlit training pitches, football museum, change rooms and 10 outdoor five-a-side pitches.

Backed by $19 million in funding from the South Australian Government, at the venue’s official opening on 16th July, it was announced the facility would be known as ServiceFM Stadium following a five-year sponsorship deal.

ServiceFM Managing Director James Pollock said the naming rights deal was a good fit for the national facility management company as it undergoes a strong growth phase.

Pollock noted “this is an excellent strategic partnership with Football SA and we’re keen to make the most of the opportunity that having naming rights for this brand-new stadium will present.

“We know how much the football community has craved the development of this stadium and we’re excited to be involved in a sport that generates such massive interest across the nation.”

Football SA Chief Executive, Michael Carter added “the State Centre of Football is a great example of a facility that is catering for the grassroots all the way to the elite level of the game. The football family have embraced the venue as have the wider community.”

The stadium, located on Matildas Drive, Gepps Cross, can host State League fixtures, Australia Cup matches, pre-season and competitive A League Men’s and Women’s matches.
