Reimagined running event to launch in Sydney

Reimagined running event to launch in Sydney
April 23, 2025

The reimagined ‘Real Insurance Harbour 10’, a 10km and 5km race around Sydney Harbour - built by runners, for runners - is launching officially on 1st May, and offers more than a race. It’s a vibe. A connection. A defining moment in Sydney’s winter run culture.

The former Sydney Harbour 10k, now the ‘Real Insurance Harbour 10’ has been redesigned to be flat and fast, allowing runners to achieve their best times through a harbourside course incorporating Darling Harbour, The Rocks and Barangaroo.

This rebranded 10km race, taking place in Sydney on Sunday 27th July 2025, was crafted for the ‘Run Club Generation’ - the new wave of Sydney runners hitting sunrise sessions, chasing PBs on Strava, or showing up to Saturday runs just to feel part of something real.

Wayne Larden, Race Director notes “this is about more than splits and finish times. It’s about that electric moment on the start line with your run crew, the crisp winter air in your lungs, a spectacular flat Harbourside course and the kind of finish line energy that stays with you long after you cross it.

“This is a race that gets it. A fast, flat course that flows through the heart of the harbour city. No fluff. No gimmicks. Just smart design and serious feels - not to mention the after party at the end.”

Whether you’re lining up for your first ever 5km, gunning for a 10km PB, or rallying your crew for a mid-winter mission, this is your chance to be part of a movement that’s changing the rhythm of Sydney’s running scene.

Runners appreciate Sydney’s winter of crisp mornings, clear skies and little chance of a heatwave. It’s when fitness locks in, goals get sharper, and training gets serious.

The Real Insurance Harbour 10 has been strategically placed in July as a powerful milestone in the calendar - a chance for runners to test their legs, reset mindsets and build motivation on the road to Spring’s major events like Australia’s largest marathon, the TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS.

Registrations open 1st May, with limited spots available and in a city buzzing with movement, the event is set to become the race that every Sydney runner marks in their calendar.

Runners can purchase tickets via www.harbour10.com.au from 10am.

Running for Those Who Can’t
This year, it is about more than chasing PBs; it’s about purpose. Proudly supported by Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF), the event gives every runner the chance to make their race matter.

Since 2022, the event has raised significant funds for cutting-edge cancer research right here in Australia. Whether you’re racing for someone you love, running in memory, or taking your first steps toward something bigger, this is your chance to run for those who can’t - and be part of something that truly changes lives. Every step counts. Every dollar matters. Every runner makes a difference.
