Operations at attractions begin to resume in Indonesia with safety measures in place

Tourist attractions in Jakarta, Indonesia - Taman Impian Jaya Ancol otherwise known as Ancol Dreamland, along with Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) have reopened to the public following the implementation of the city's first transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSSB – Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar). Safety measures in place include limiting capacity, maintaining social distancing and mandating the use of masks.

Aimed at preventing the potential spread of the virus COVID-19, the Central Government of Indonesia and the Regional Government of DKI Jakarta took one of the options for Health Quarantine Action, namely by setting the policy “Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB)” in full as of 10^th April, 2020.

Tourist attractions in Jakarta are required to limit visitor capacity to 25% in the second transitional PSBB, in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19.

On the first weekend of the second transitional PSBB, thousands of visitors reportedly flocked to tourist sites across the city. TMII public relations head Sahda Silalahi shared that the park had welcomed around 10,000 visitors over the weekend having tried to limit the number of visitors to below 20,000 from a normal capacity of 70,000 to 80,000 visitors. She explained that limiting the number of visitors would allow visitors to practice physical distancing while visiting the 34 anjungan (pavilion) and recreational rides.

The TMII management has yet to open the whole area to visitors with management still preparing health and safety precautions for the swimming pool.

Meanwhile, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol has applied several new regulations in the second transitional PSBB, which includes the opening of the beach for swimming.
