The projects will deliver new bookable Aboriginal cultural tourism products, grow the range of visitor experiences available and encourage people not only to travel to the Territory, but to stay longer.
Of the successful applications, three were in the Top End and three from the Central Australia region.
Among the Top End recipients, Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation was awarded funding to support their Strategic Cultural Tourism Plan and delivery of a collection of Aboriginal cultural tourism products and experiences.
While in Central Australia, 100% Finke River Culture and Adventure was awarded funding for upgrades to the Rodna campground facilities, including new toilets, showers, kitchen, solar lighting, a rainwater tank and new shelters.
The Northern Territory Aboriginal Tourism Strategy 2020-2030 sets out to develop a sustainable Aboriginal tourism sector that leads the nation.
With grants ranging from $30,000 to $100,000, Round Five of the Aboriginal Tourism Grants supports the development of quality experiences, products and services.
The Northern Territory Government has supported more than 50 Aboriginal tourism projects across the Territory through Aboriginal Tourism Grant Program, with a total investment of more than $1.7 million dollars in grant funding.
