read moreThe Venue Management Association (VMA) has announced that nominations for the 2014 Venue Professional of the Year Awards are now open.
Each year, the Venue Professional of the Year Awards are offered to one Active VMA member and one Allied VMA member to recognise the contributions of the Association's membership, across all venue types, who demonstrate excellence in venue and community service in conjunction with innovations in venue management and contributions to the professional development of their colleagues, students and staff.
The awards present an opportunity for VMA Members to nominate a colleague to recognise the contributions that they have made to the Venue Management industry, during the 2013 calendar year.
Among the many reasons to consider nomination of a colleague is the recognition that can often go unnoticed for:
Displaying an outstanding commitment to the Venue Management Industry through their support and contribution to the VMA,
For their own personal and professional development and the inspiration that they have on others,
For the support that they have shown to fellow colleagues, staff and students within the Industry and the larger Community.
The Venue Professional of the Year Awards will be presented on Tuesday 27th May 2014, during a very special segment of the Gala Dinner at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Venue Industry Congress, being held at Crown Melbourne.
This year, Rod Pilbeam of AEG Ogden received the Active Venue Professional of the Year Award while Maria O'Connor, Managing Director of Ticketmaster Australia, received the Allied Venue Professional of the Year Award.
Craig Lovett, Allied Venue Professional of the Year in 2012 recently recalled "(receiving) the Venue Professional of the Year award was unexpected and gratifying.
"To be recognised by (my) peers in the industry is the ultimate accolade for actually doing what comes naturally, that being the promotion and support of this outstanding industry."
Dean Hassall also commented on receiving the Allied Venue Professional of the Year in 2011, stating "I felt very honoured to receive the Allied Venue Professional of the year award in 2011.
"To me being recognised in this way by your industry peers is an extremely rewarding and gratifying achievement, especially in this industry where there are so many outstanding individuals who have achieved enormous success in many aspects.
"This award is a wonderful initiative by the VMA and I encourage everyone to consider nominating someone they feel deserves such industry recognition."
Nominations close on Monday 3rd March 2014.
