read moreThe Victorian Government has announced that it is to implement a new governance model and refresh the three northern Alpine Resort Management Boards.
Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio has announced expressions of interest for 13 positions across the boards responsible for managing Falls Creek, Mt Buller, Mt Stirling and Mt Hotham alpine resorts will be invited in the near future.
Aiming to improve coordination and provide better strategic planning and oversight, the reforms of the management of Victoria’s alpine resorts will see each board made up of three unique members – while four common members will be appointed to all three boards.
In addition, the Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council membership will also be refreshed while membership of Southern Alpine Resort Management Board will remain unchanged.
In the 2016/17 winter and summer months – the alpine industry contributed $911 million to the Victorian economy and created more than 9,000 jobs.
Announcing the changes, Minister D’Ambrosio stated “alpine resorts have a special place in the hearts of many Victorians – and we have to protect them.
“We look forward to revitalising our management boards to help plan for the future of these terrific tourist icons.”
