read moreLithgow Council has recently been struggling to respond to ongoing vandalism, illegal dumping of rubbish and carelessness within their public parks and open spaces.
Lithgow Mayor, Maree Statham notes “we continue to offer up to 106 services to this community, with rubbish collection and restoration of vandalism being just two of those.
“For each park that we have to clean or restore, another faces reduced levels of service. This compounding problem eventually affects the LGA as a whole.”
The Lithgow area is known for its incredible environmental endowments, open spaces and recreational assets. Of late though, these assets have been subject to vandalism and littering.
Lithgow City Council has an abundance of environmental endowments, complimenting their natural vistas, rich heritage and recreational assets.
Mayor Statham adds “our community takes great pride in preserving the amenity of our city and its villages. Council staff also go to great lengths to keep our facilities in top shape. However, even though there are bins installed in almost all facilities, we are finding that some users are careless in their disposal of rubbish, or worse yet, are actively seeking to damage our community assets.
“Please, if you visit our parks and playgrounds, make use of the bins available. If you see vandalism, call it out by reporting to the Council or local Police. We all have a part to play in keeping our area pristine. I thank all those who continue to do the right thing.”
