KSM Advisory shares program to revitalise community aquatic centres

KSM Advisory shares program to revitalise community aquatic centres
September 17, 2019

Consultancy KSM Advisory has released a white paper addressing the challenges of managing and marketing regional aquatic centres.

The white paper, Revitalise and Reimagine the Town Pool - A strategic approach to leveraging council assets for maximum community benefit, takes account of the challenges facing many community pools and argues that it is time to “rethink how to manage these vital council assets”, suggesting that “alternative approaches around multi-use, product and programs and management are needed in order to revitalise these valuable community assets”.

The white paper also states “a well-managed and promoted town pool can address the high deficiency in physical activity of Australians, particularly in regional areas where access to fitness facilities is limited.”

Revitalise and Reimagine the Town Pool, is also the title of a consultancy program offered by KSM Advisory, which works with council and community stakeholders to invigorate existing council pools to meet strategic and economic objectives such as employment, population retention and a healthy community.

With a personal commitment to the value of regional pools and their role in communities, KSM Advisory Principal Martin Pike writes on the consultancy’s website “learning to swim creates a lifelong pathway towards active involvement in sport and recreation.

“In country Australia, most kids learn to swim in the town pool, improving the health and well-being of the community and providing opportunity for social engagement, clubs, functions and youth diversion programs.”

KSM Advisory partners with councils and communities to undertake strategic reviews and business plans to assist in maximising the performance of existing assets, advising “our program has energised regional aquatic centres and made a positive contribution to help councils realise their community-based goals.”
