The redevelopment will include a complete refurbishment of St Barbara Square and Laneway to the rear entrance of the City Markets arcade.
The project will deliver a water feature, new gardens, areas for alfresco dining and entertainment areas as well as a playground area.
Other features of the Kal City Centre project include:
Western Australian Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan advises "The Kal City Centre project will deliver a major upgrade of the Kalgoorlie CBD into a vibrant, functional centre for retail businesses, the community and visitors.
"It will help to reposition Kalgoorlie's CBD as an attractive place to be, revitalising the city centre and creating a safer local environment.
"Local businesses will benefit from a boost in visitation, activation of public spaces and a better visitor experience.
"We have ensured this project delivers tangible economic benefits in construction, providing opportunities for both local and Aboriginal businesses, and direct employment with project contractors."
