Invitation for prequalification of tenderers for Kai Tak Sports Park

The Hong Kong Government’s Home Affairs Bureau has commenced the process of inviting prequalification of tenderers for the contract for Design, Construction and Operation of the Kai Tak Sports Park.

The scope of works of the contract comprises the design, construction and operation of the Kai Tak Sports Park of site area of about 28 hectares in the north apron of the former Hong Kong International Airport in Kai Tak, Kowloon City District.

Facilities included in the project comprises a multi-purpose main stadium with a spectator capacity of around 50,000, a public sports ground with a spectator capacity of around 5,000, an indoor sports centre with a multi-purpose main arena with a seating capacity of 10,000 and an ancillary sports hall with a seating capacity of 500, retail and dining outlets with gross floor area (GFA) of about 60,000 metre², a bowling centre with 40 lanes, a health and wellness centre with GFA of about 2,500 metre², and public open space of more than 8 hectares.

The construction floor area is about 390,000 metre².

Subject to funding approval of the Legislative Council Finance Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the contract is scheduled to commence in 2018 for a period of 25 years (including design, construction and operation period).

The invitation to prequalification of tenderers was gazetted at the end of last week, with the closing time for the tender at 2.30pm on Friday 30th June 2017.

Prequalification applications should be submitted to the quotation box of the Home Affairs Bureau at 2/F Entrance, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong.

A prequalification briefing session will be held at 2.30pm on Tuesday 9th May 2017.
