read moreInsurer HL Assurance has launched the Singapore Travel Pass, the first of its kind in Singapore, combining travel insurance coverage, pre-paid mobile connectivity and stored value public transport travel card into one package for the convenience of inbound tourists to the nation.
Announcing the all-in-one facility, HL Assurance Chief Executive, Kelvin Lim advised "even though COVID-19 restrictions have eased, and traveling is gradually recovering, the experience of the pandemic has rendered travel insurance to evolve from a good-to-have to a need-to-have, as health situations can change rapidly, escalating travel expenses significantly with unplanned hospital and quarantine expenses."
With the reopening of its borders, the Singapore Tourism Board expects visitor arrivals to rise to between 4 to 6 million people for the full year of 2022, with Indonesia (282,000), India (219,000), Malaysia (139,000) and Australia (125,000) accounting for the top four international visitors. The average length of stay for visitors has also increased from an average of 3.4 days in 2019 to 7.1 days in the first half of 2022.
The new Singapore Travel Pass ensures tourists are protected with travel insurance coverage including an insured sum of up to S$50,000 (US$35,000) worth of Covid-19 hospitalisation or medical treatment facility expenses, accidental hospitalisation expenses, enhanced travel inconvenience benefits such as coverage for loss of baggage, money, personal documents, baggage delays, trip curtailment, and more. Tourists who have bought the Singapore Travel Pass can enjoy a free telemedicine consultation if they require non-emergency medical advice.
In addition to the insurance coverage, the pass offers a complimentary 100GB of 4G local data for inbound tourists to stream videos or share photos on the go, 1GB of roaming data for outbound short trips to Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand from Singapore, and EZ-link function for traveling on public transport, whether it is MRT, LRT or public buses to explore Singapore.
The Singapore Travel Pass costs S$50 (US$35).
