iiNet began a long-term relationship with basketball in September last year when they signed on as the naming rights sponsor of the men's National Basketball League for three years.
The mutual success of that association laid the foundation for the new partnership announced today which is set to bolster the WNBL competition and further solidify iiNet's commitment to men's and womenâs basketball. It also highlights the reach and strength of basketball as a platform from which an innovative and rapidly expanding organisation is able to continue to grow their brand awareness.
Basketball Australia Chief Executive Larry Sengstock sees the partnership between iiNet and the WNBL as a perfect match between two organisations growing from strength to strength.
Sengstock explains "with iiNet having already signed on as the naming rights sponsor of the NBL, it's a positive result for the WNBL that, in expanding their reach, iiNet have sought further involvement with the sport by partnering with the premier women's basketball competition in Australia.
"iiNet is an organisation that is continuing to grow its brand and sees basketball as a great vehicle for that. Weâre certainly looking to work very hard with them to see that both the sport and iiNet reach their full potential."
Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of iiNet, Sam McDonagh, said the WNBL partnership was a natural progression of iiNet's commitment to grass roots basketball in Australia.
McDonagh explained "Basketball in Australia is on the up. Partnering with the NBL and now the WNBL demonstrates our support of the sport, its fans and the broader community.
"The WNBL is going from strength to strength and is the perfect avenue for us to showcase our brand and what we do (including our) awesome customer service and innovative products."
