GIO extends naming rights deal for Canberra Stadium

GIO extends naming rights deal for Canberra Stadium
March 14, 2022

Insurance company GIO has agreed a four-year extension as the naming rights sponsor of the Canberra Stadium.

Extending a partnership that commenced in 2013, the new deal today will see the insurer continue to back the ACT’s major venue until 2026.

Commenting on the extension, ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry stated “the GIO naming rights sponsorship has provided significant support for the stadium, our sporting teams, and the broader community.

“I am delighted to further strengthen our partnership with GIO over the coming four years.”

The 25,000 capacity venue, the home ground for the NRL’s Canberra Raiders and Super Rugby’s Brumbies, has also hosted many international sporting events, concerts, plays, and local community events such as Stadium Golf, now in its third year.

Berry added “the extension of this partnership comes at an exciting time for Canberra’s sports lovers with the Brumbies and the Brumbies Super W teams both kicking off their seasons.

“This agreement with GIO will enable us to continue to showcase great sport and events at GIO Stadium Canberra.”

Matt Pearson, GIO Executive General Manager, said the renewed naming rights of Canberra’s premier sporting venue demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the ACT community, commenting “we are incredibly proud to be extending our partnership with GIO Stadium. We’ve seen locals and visitors share many memorable moments at this iconic venue, and we look forward to more in the future.”

The Raiders started their NRL season at the venue at the weekend.
