FINA World Convention to unite the world of aquatics

FINA World Convention to unite the world of aquatics
May 13, 2014

World swimming governing body FINA has announced that its third World Aquatics Convention will be taking place from 29th November to 1st December 2014 in the Qatari capital of Doha.

For the first time, the Convention will be taking place in collaboration with the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25 metres), scheduled to be held at the Hamdan Aquatics Centre, Doha from 3rd to 7th December.

Sports business industry leaders and the FINA ‘aquatics family’ are set to benefit from the consecutive timing of these two events, with the new approach aiming to strengthen the connection between international competitions and those organisations and businesses involved in the development of aquatics around the world.

FINA President Dr. Julio C. Maglione explains “the FINA World Aquatics Convention is the official place for leaders in the Aquatics industry to meet, share knowledge and do business.

“Meanwhile the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships in Doha is where the entire aquatics family, from coaches, team managers and swimmers, to brands, sponsors and delivery partners, will be.

“Running the Convention in conjunction with the FINA World Swimming Championships (25 metres) will allow the key stakeholders of our sport to maximise both events in unison.”

The FINA World Aquatics Convention provides a platform for the global aquatics family and business leaders to come together to network and share best practices, encouraging greater engagement in aquatic sports and elite performance across all FINA disciplines.

Whether a delegate, an exhibitor or an Official Partner, the Convention enables attendees to meet with decision-makers, exchange opinion on the progression of Aquatics and to position themselves as an organisation at the forefront of the sport.

New features to this year’s FINA World Aquatics Convention include the FINA Extraordinary Congress and the FINA Swimming Golden Coaches Clinic. Convention delegates will gain new level of networking by meeting with other delegates around the sessions, visiting the exhibition as well as having opportunity to participate in various seminars and attending social events during the Convention.

Previous FINA World Aquatics Conventions were held in Uruguay in 2010 and Moscow, Russia in 2012.

The 2014 Convention will be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha.
