Event technology platform HeadBox launches in Western Australia

Event technology platform HeadBox launches in Western Australia
September 30, 2021

HeadBox, an event technology platform that matches event organisers with suitable venues goes live tomorrow in Western Australia having launched in Sydney and Brisbane earlier this year.

HeadBox was originally founded in Britain and brought to Australia by local entrepreneur Ali Lord and is now one of the fastest growing venue listing platforms in Europe, having recently placed ninth in the UK’s Startups 100.

The platform is described as the ‘Bumble for events’ and currently has over 13,000 spaces across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and now Perth to choose from.

Through their proprietary software, HeadBox enables businesses to track and manage their event spend on a local and national level. With the platform also launching in Sydney and Brisbane earlier this year, HeadBox will continue its national expansion into 2022.

Lord said that Perth was chosen as the next city to launch Headbox because of its enviable position in managing COVID-19 and the fact that many event organisers were looking to Perth as the perfect location for their next events.

Lord advised “you only have to look at the success of the recent AFL Grand Final to see that Perth is a leading contender as a major event host and the fact that Western Australia is in such a positive position with the Coronavirus pandemic was a significant factor in deciding to make Perth our next city to launch in.”

Originally from Brisbane, Lord has over a decade of experience in the events industry, both venue and client-side in both Australia and London. At Dentsu, Lord oversaw the events agenda for 21 agencies across the UK and Ireland, managing 200 events a year.

Lord said that the rollout of HeadBox in Sydney, Brisbane and now Perth was exactly what the Australian events industry needed to support the rebound of the events industry as a whole adding “Whilst the events industry in Australia has been decimated over the past 18 months, there are signs that it will bounce back strongly in 2022, particularly in states like WA.

“With the City of Perth set to sponsor several major events in 2021 and 2022, including the Perth Festival and Fringe World, consumer confidence is beginning to return, and event organisers are starting to put significant investment behind their events.”

Julia Barnard, Managing Director of This Space, a national event planning and management company, says that HeadBox’s launch in Perth will save the company a great deal of manpower.

“We’ve collaborated with HeadBox to provide end to end solutions for our clients and the fact that the platform is now available in Perth will save us hundreds of hours in event planning. One of the key benefits of HeadBox is the broad range of venue styles they have on offer, allowing us to speak to a much broader audience.”

HeadBox will continue its national expansion into 2022.
