With Dunedin City Council’s outdoor spaces policies now out-of-date, the 2005 Reserves Management Plan General Policies is being reviewed.

Council is seeking community feedback on how it manages its outdoor spaces, including parks, reserves, sports grounds and other green areas.

The DCC Group Manager Parks and Recreation Scott MacLean says Dunedin’s more than 300 DCC-managed parks and reserves are well-used and popular with residents and visitors.

“Dunedin is fortunate to have so many parks and reserves available for public use and enjoyment People use them for a large range of recreation activities, enhancing our quality of life and well-being.

“We have policies to ensure we manage these areas in a useful way for all kinds of users.

“We’re seeking the views of residents in the wider Dunedin area to make sure these policies effectively manage our parks and reserves and respond to changing community needs.”

The policies cover many issues from conservation and pest control to tree management and littering.

Feedback will be used to develop an updated General Policies Reserves Management Plan and people will also be able to comment on the draft of this.

Submissions can be made at www.dunedin.govt.nz/reserves-management-review until Friday, 28th July 2023.
