Dreamworld commences construction on its new experiential Rivertown precinct

Dreamworld commences construction on its new experiential Rivertown precinct
January 23, 2024

Following months of demolition and site preparations, Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld has today commenced construction on its highly anticipated Rivertown precinct.

Destined to become Dreamworld's most thematic and experiential land ever delivered, the family entertainment to be offered at Rivertown will be an array of attractions, featuring the centrepiece ride, Jungle Rush - a thrilling new family rollercoaster that promises to be an immersive adventure for visitors of all ages.

Jungle Rush, manufactured by rollercoaster giant, Vekoma, is set to be the first of its kind in Australia, with the ride design supporting multiple different cycle paths. This has never been seen before in Australia and is only the first of a series of ground-breaking features being offered in the new precinct.

Dreamworld Chief Executive, Greg Yong enthused "Rivertown is a testament to our commitment to innovation and creating unforgettable experiences for our guests. This precinct represents the culmination of meticulous planning and creativity. It’s the crowning jewel in our $55 million investment in Dreamworld, and really demonstrates our dedication to bringing world-class experiences to the Gold Coast.

“Our brand-new coaster, Jungle Rush will be Dreamworld's largest-ever investment in a single attraction, so it really is one for the record books.”

On top of the brand-new Jungle Rush rollercoaster, Dreamworld enthusiasts can look forward to the re-theming of a popular classic, Vintage Cars to Murrissippi Motors.

Herron Coorey, a renowned construction company, has been entrusted with the management of this ambitious project.

Director and Project Manager at Herron Coorey, Dan Mickan, expressed confidence in the team's ability to bring Dreamworld's vision to life.

Mickan shared "we are honoured to be a part of this milestone project. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that Rivertown becomes a reality and exceeds the expectations of Dreamworld and its guests."

In a significant boost to the local economy, the Rivertown project is set to create more than 1000 jobs on-site, including positions in construction, trade, and theming. This employment opportunity aligns with Dreamworld's commitment to supporting the community and contributing to the growth of the Gold Coast region.

Rivertown is expected to open to the public in late 2024.

Dreamworld owner Ardent Leisure rebranded as Coast Entertainment Holdings as of Monday 18th December.
