Crystal Pools releases planning and procurement guide for public pools

Crystal Pools releases planning and procurement guide for public pools
May 9, 2012

Leading swimming pool constructor Crystal Pools has released a guidebook that aims to answer many frequently asked questions relating to the planning and procurement of commercial public swimming pools.

With Crystal Pools' 54 years of swimming pool construction experience 'A Guide to the Planning and Procurement of Commercial and Public Swimming Pools' covers, and answers questions on, the following topics:

• The history of public pools in Australia and what makes some projects difficult to deliver?
• How do prospective owners best satisfy their aquatic ambitions?
• Why select an aquatic consultant?
• The importance of design team selection: what are the potential pitfalls?
• When designing an aquatic centre, what are the important criteria?
• What are the potential issues with indoor pools?
• How does a prospective owner address risks associated with commercial viability?
• Is the expense of addressing public health concerns justifiable?
• Why is contract method thought to be an early design consideration?
• What advice can Crystal Pools provide to owners contemplating a design and construct project?
• Which types of pools are the most challenging to deliver?
• What services can Crystal Pools contribute to the aquatic planning process? and
• What does Crystal Pools recommend?

The publication aims to allay the sometimes expressed perception that pools are 'difficult to deliver' by simplifying the processes involved in the sometimes complex inter-relationship between design issues in commercial swimming pools.

Crystal's Commercial Pools Director Paul Hicken explains "we produced this document to try and show people that buying a swimming pool is not the same as concreting a garage slab.

"(We wanted) to give a unique and frank insight on the planning and procurement of commercial public swimming pools from our experience with hundreds of varied swimming pool projects, using vastly different methods."

Copies of 'A Guide to the Planning and Procurement of Commercial and Public Swimming Pools' are available from Crystal Pools on 02 9875 4555, E: PaulH@crystalpools.com.auwww.crystalpools.com.au
