Crowd violence erupts during NRL game at Sydney’s Accor Stadium

Crowd violence erupts during NRL game at Sydney’s Accor Stadium
April 5, 2025

11 fans have been evicted from Sydney’s Accor Stadium after fighting broke out during last night’s NRL clash between South Sydney and Sydney Roosters.

The incident saw two groups of men engaged in a wild brawl during the game.

While no injuries were reported, NSW Police are looking into the incident while the fans face bans from the NRL and the venue.

Footage on social media sites shows a number of men trading blows during the second half of Friday night's game - which attracted a crowd of 22,114 - before several security guards stepped in to stop the violence.

A Venues NSW spokesperson said two groups of 11 males were evicted via different stadium gates, downplaying the incident by explaining “no medical assistance was required and no injuries were reported.”

The spokesperson added “any offenders will be dealt with by police and face bans from attending future events."

A text line has been made available for people to report incidents anonymously to the security control room at all major NSW venues and is printed around all venues and displayed on screens.
