Community feedback contributes to construction decisions on Blue Gums to Eildon Recreational Trail

The community feedback Murrindindi Shire Council received on its plans for the Blue Gums to Eildon Recreational Trail have contributed to constuction decisions.

Murrindindi Shire is situated on Melbourne's peri-urban fringe and construction of the Recreational Trail is set to begin from mid-2022.

Originally, Council hoped to have the Project completed by then, however due to challenges in the construction industry, including skilled labour and material shortages due to COVID-19, they are now aiming to have the Project completed by the end of the year.

Council sought community feedback on locations for seating, drinking fountains, and tree planting along the Trail in November.

Based on this feedback, Council will be positioning four seating benches along the Trail, spaced roughly every 650 metres. These benches will be made from recycled timber, which is environmentally friendly and very easy to maintain.

Drinking fountains will also be installed at the beginning and end of the Trail. Additional trees will also be planted along the Trail. Council’s arborist will use feedback from the community to determine appropriate locations and species of trees, shrubs and ground covers that best suits the environment.
