read moreWith the release of the remake of the classic adventure movie Point Break, Coffs Skydivers is this month celebrating the global interest in adventure tourism with a wild promotion copycatting the film’s fearless thrills.
Running through January, the Coffs Skydivers promotion culminates on Sunday 24th January when Coffs Skydivers will ‘liberate a stash of cash’ with a Cash Drop over a yet to be released Coffs Harbour location.
Climaxing the promotion, the day will see more than $5,000 in $10 and $5 bills fall from the sky, with one lucky participant set to win two of Coffs Skydivers’ Highest Beach Skydive package with a free nights accommodation at Opal Cove Resort for two people, a family pass to Dolphin Marine Magic, two 45 minute 'Harbourside to Hinterland' Harley Davidson tours plus a double movie pass to Point Break.
Introducing the promotion, Coffs Skydivers Chief Instructor, Lawrence Hill comments “any skydive is incredible and often a life changing experience (but) Australia’s highest beach skydive takes that experience to a whole new level.
“It’s the best feeling on earth.”
The promotion has been backed by The Legendary Pacific Coast (TLPC) , Australian Parachute Federation, NBN Coffs Harbour, Hoey Moey – On The Beach, Opal Cove Resort, A1 Coffs Coast Tours and Dolphin Marine Magic.
Commenting on the growth of adventure tourism on the NSW North Coast, TLPC Chief Executive Belinda Novicky explained “(the region) is jam packed with hiking, bushwalking, scuba diving, surfing skydiving, horse-riding, abseiling and hot air ballooning opportunities across expansive, clean and uncrowded coastal and hinterland locations.
“Globally, from 2009 to 2012 the adventure travel market had an estimated yearly growth of a whopping 65%.
“And, as the demand for new adventure experiences and destinations grows so does interest and visitation to our 900 km touring route stretching from the Central Coast to the Tweed.
“Currently TLPC adventure tourism is characterised through coastal and aquatic water based activities including visiting the beach, whale/dolphin watching, recreational fishing, surfing, and diving all of which represent a staggering 73% of activities sought by visitors to the region.”
“Adventure travellers are younger than non-adventure travellers with an average age of 36 and are more readily inclined to use the professional services of guides, instructors and tour tour operators.
“Adventure travellers are planning their trips with online research, consulting friends and family and recommending trips across social media platforms.
“Research also suggests that going on adventure raises your tolerance for life’s uncertainties.”
