CENTAMAN Entrance Control installed at Landmark Site on Sydney Harbour

CENTAMAN Entrance Control installed at Landmark Site on Sydney Harbour
March 2, 2011

Centurion SwingGates from CENTAMAN Entrance Control have been installed at the recently upgraded Milsons Point Wharf. The upgrade at Milsons Point is the first wharf major upgrade under the 12-year Sydney Harbour Wharf Upgrade Program.

NSW Minister for Ports and Waterways, Paul McLeay explained "Sydney Harbour's 49 commuter wharves carry high traffic - more than 14 million passengers use them to catch Sydney Ferries each year. It's vital to ensure they meet the needs and demands of the public, such as having disabled access.

"That is why the Milsons Point Wharf is being upgraded. It's the first step in our multi-million dollar 12-year Sydney Harbour Wharf Upgrade Program."

The Centurion SwingGate has been installed to ensure that pedestrian traffic only use the entry lane to access the wharf as opposed to the exit lane, this will help the ferries comply with maximum capacity requirements. The gates are normally closed to deter people using the exit lane but when commuters disembark the ferry they trigger a sensor that automatically opens the gates for people to exit through.

Richard Murrell Project Manager for the Waterways Construction who were in charge of the project said "CENTAMAN impressed us with their professionalism. They responded quickly to all our enquiries and supplied the solution in quick time to fit in with our tight timescales. The solution they provided has perfectly matched all our requirements and their service has provided excellent value for money."
