Canberra Olympic Pool to close as search for massive leak steps up

With its currently closed diving and toddler pools leaking 46,000 litres a day, and up to 19 million litres of water a year, the indoor 50-metre pool at Canberra Olympic Pool will also be closed from later this month.
The move follows the indefinite closure of the facility's two outdoor pools, after the ACT Government begins to search for the source of the massive leakage.
A full-scale search to find the leak began when the outdoor toddler and diving pools closed for the winter months, but the search has yet to turn up a result.
The indoor 50-metre pool normally operates throughout winter but will close from 27th April.
The ACT Government were alerted to the leak 18 months ago, but it is still not known where the leaking water is going.
ACT Government Sport and Recreation Services Director Jenny Priest has apologised for inconveniences caused by the "necessary" closure.
Priest told the ABC "the ACT Government remains committed to ensuring that the Canberra Olympic Pool can continue to operate for as long as it remains viable.
"We appreciate the patience of members and pass holders as we work to find the source of the leaks."
The centre's members and visit pass holders will be given free entry to the Lakeside Leisure Centre in Tuggeranong and the Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre in Belconnen during the closure, and have their passes extended.
