read moreCurrently developing a National Sport Infrastructure Action Plan, the Australian Sports Commission is inviting professionals working in sporting organisations, local and state government for input "to help shape the future of community sport infrastructure in Australia".
The Plan, which the Commission aims to release by the end of the year, aims to support more inclusive, accessible and multipurpose community sporting facilities across the country.
To help guide the plan, Australians involved in the sport and infrastructure sectors are invited to take part in an online survey.
Open until late August, the survey focuses on the development of a strategic approach to the creation of versatile and sustainable sports hubs, consistent universal design standards and collaborative practices between users of multi sport facilities.
ASC Executive General Manager of Sport and Community Capability Richard McInnes said ensuring every Australian can access the places and spaces they need to play is a key part of Australia’s Sport Participation Strategy: Play Well.
McInnes advised "our facilities need to be welcoming, accessible and multi-purpose so all Australians can access and enjoy the benefits of sport.
“Our ultimate goal is to ensure that everyone can participate in sport and have a great experience wherever they choose to play.”
“If you work in sport or infrastructure and want to help make community sport facilities better, I encourage you to have your say by filling out the survey.”
