read moreThe Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) has launched a new program to help businesses connect with the $36.6 billion international tourism market, one of Australia’s fastest growing exports.
The Know-How for Inbound Tourism Excellence (KITE) program, was launched in Perth today (6th April) by ATEC’s Chairman, Denis Pierce during Tourism Australia’s industry briefing program.
Introducing the program, Pierce explained “KITE will provide tourism businesses, at all levels of their international readiness cycle, with overall export know-how, market specific insights and specialist topic webinars, allowing them to get into, or stay on top of the game.
“This program covers all the basics from the different types of travellers, cultural influences, tourism research, distribution, pricing, sales and marketing, but it also helps businesses determine if they are ready for a particular market and how they should go about engaging with it.
“International visitors are not ‘one-size-fits-all’ so tourism businesses need to understand how to adjust their product in order get the most out of each individual market and ensure they have long term success.”
The first stage of the KITE program is being rolled out in Western Australia in partnership with Tourism Western Australia - a strong supporter in the development of the program.
Delivered by ATEC Endorsed Trainers, who represent a highly experienced group of industry members, KITE will offer a range of workshops and webinars focused on:
• Export Know-How
• International Ready
• China Insights
• India Insights
• Indonesia Insights
• Malaysia Insights
• Singapore Insights
• Specialist area masterclasses
Pierce also launched the Tourism Export Toolkit (TExT), another joint initiative with Tourism Australia and with collaboration from all STOs. TExT is an online publication which will support the KITE program and is designed to provide basic tools, knowledge and key contacts for the industry.
Pierce added “we are very pleased to have partnered with these agencies to develop TExT, a resource which will make for a truly national toolkit and one that will help build an even stronger Australian export tourism industry.
“Both KITE and the TExT are tangible examples of how ATEC is committed to increasing the skills, range and sales of businesses who are out there delivering Australia’s tourism exports.”
